Association of lafadl Initiatives was formed in 2007 to help promote equality across all religions, classes and gender.

The group has been awarded £5,000 for their Securing Bread on Women’s Hands programme to help mud slide victims in the Sidoarjo district in East Java.

The money will be used for a revolving fund to help the women start small businesses. Their husbands have lost their jobs as they continue to fight for compensation from the government and a private company for the mudslide that destroyed their community and their livelihood.
