Development Action Group

cidadeEstablished in 1986, DAG works to support communities resisting forced evictions in Cape Town’s informal settlements.  DAG works to alleviate poverty, promote equitable urban development and create sustainable human settlements through supporting and enabling communities to lead their own development and to participate meaningfully in urban governance.

DAG has provided direct assistance in building more than 5,000 new houses, securing land, infrastructure, housing and community services to more than 100,000 people in over 60 projects.  DAG has also trained over 2.000 civil servants, society leaders, activists and local government officials and produced more than 85 relevant publications.  On top of this, they have successfully set up the Kuyusa Micro-Finance Fund to promote savings and provide micro loans for home improvements.

Our funding of £10,000 will go towards their Community Leadership Training Programme.
