SPANA Syria
SPANA (Syria) was founded to provide free veterinary treatment for thousands of animals every year, to teach owners and children how to respect and care for their animals and the environment and also to provide emergency assistance where needed.
SPANA (Syria)’s belief is that by ensuring a working animal is well and healthy, it can make even more of a contribution to the lives of those who depend on it. If an animal falls sick or is injured, then the family it supports may go hungry and fall deeper into poverty.
Our funding of £5,000 goes towards a converted bus which will travel around Syria teaching children and young people about basic animal welfare and the importance of a healthy environment. This follows the successful roll out of a similar project in Tunisia, launched in 2005.
