Introducing…Malawi and the Anita Award winners 2009
Back in 2009, a new award was launched internally at The Body Shop International, in reflect the values of the company that Anita has installed at all levels of the business – to invest personally in your community and assist those small, inspirational groups working for social and environmental change.
The award – named the Anita Award – was introduced to keep this legacy alive, recognise the exceptional achievements of The Body Shop people and to inpsire thers to, as Anita often said, “Do something. Do anything. Just do something!”
The Anita Award winners are now in Malawi, with a very busy itinery planned for their visit to two projects funded by us, The Body Shop Foundation. First of all, they will spend time volunteering with the Body Free Foundation in Malawi www.lilongwewildlife.org” and then go on to meet the beneficiaries of the Microloan Foundation in Mzimba www.microloanfoundation.org.uk.
The famous five winners represent staff from all over the company and from all markets and regions that The Body Shop International operates in and those on a trip of a lifetime are:
- Elizabeh Ngade – Asia Pacific ( Khan Market store, New Delhi, India)
- Ashleigh Drury – International (New City Court, London, UK)
- Jane Rönnqvist – EMEA ( Sundsvall store, Sweden)
- Kanika Selvan – UK and RoI ( Stockport store, UK)
- Chantel Knowll – Americas ( Bower Place store, Alberta, Canada)
They will be accompanied by staff from The Body Shop Foundation on this incredible opportunity for the Anita Award winners to experience the work of the company’s charitable foundation at first hand. It is an integral element of life at The Body Shop and provides invaluable support to many wonderful charities and projects.
