National Labor Committee (NLC)
The NLC’s mission is to help workers in the developing world-especially those producing for multinational corporations– learn, fight for and win their fundamental human, women’s, children’s and labor rights.
Our funding of £30,015 over 2 years is given towards two projects. The first is India/Gemstones: a project to end child labour and the needless silicosis deaths in the gemstone industry in Khambhat. The second is Shipbreaking/Bangladesh: this project’s goal is to end the complete isolation of the shipbreaking workers which has gone on for 30 years, by building a multi-stakeholder alliance that will bring together the necessary expertise, resources and momentum.
