Let me tell you about Janina….Janina works in the HR Department at our Americas Head Office in Wake Forest. Janina is a keen supporter of The Body Shop Foundation but that’s not just where her charity giving ends…no siree.
So let’s hear about her other role as Volunteer Coordinator and Team Leader at Houndhaven, a no-kill shelter for dogs in Central Florida
What I do: As a shelter team leader, I lead a small team of people on Sunday mornings. We walk and feed the dogs and administer all their medicines. We also clean every single kennel – they get scrubbed and sanitized daily to prevent the spread of any diseases. We have a ton of dishes and laundry to do and lots of poop to pick up! But it’s all worth it because we all get puppy kisses and wagging tails as a daily thank you. I have been doing this for about 4 years now.
As a Volunteer Coordinator, I recruit, schedule , and train volunteers for our adoption fairs which take place at a local Petsmart. I also maintain out dog blog to give the public information about our adoptable dogs and help them to understand the dogs personalities a bit more than the website does. I also foster dogs from time to time – much to my cats’ dismay : ) And I organize fundraisers and special events in the community (usually 2-3 times per year).
We think Janina is ‘wuff’ly to do this – way to go!
