Okay, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – our volunteers are the absolute best!  Not only does Dania volunteer for The Body Shop Foundation but she’s a real softie when it comes to our four legged friends.

So what can we tell you about Dania?  Well, she started with The Body Shop at the end of October 2010 and is a Construction Project Co-Ordinator at our Wake Forest Head Office, based in North Carolina.

She volunteers with two animal organizations: one is the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, which provides free vet services (spay/neuter) & builds free fences to chained dogs.  She has been involved in Raleigh’s chapter since its beginning two years ago.  She’s the chapter’s Team Lead Fence Builder and also help with the fundraising.    Dania absolutely LOVES being involved with this organization because of the positive change in the community that can been seen when the dog is released off it’s chain, sometimes for the first time in its whole life.  A few hours on the weekends can make such a difference in the dog’s life & the human’s relationship with their pet.   For more information about them, please visit their website at www.unchaindogs.net

The second on she helps with the SPCA of Wake County.   Dania has been working with them for over 5 years, rotating the dogs out for potty breaks, tending to sick cats, and giving medications are more routine tasks she does.  She is also a foster mum to kittens in her home; often ones that are abandoned and need bottle-fed.  Over the past few years, she has foster over 30 kittens, which is a lot of bottles when they have to be fed every 2 hours!  She also help with off-site adoption events, as well as helping with fundraising & special events.   Dania loves the compassion of the SPCA of Wake County and the efforts they put into each and every animal that comes into their care.

Its not the first time that The Body Shop Foundation has been made aware of the fantastic work of the SPCA of Wake Country; Debby Kiser (a previous staff member and volunteer for the Foundation) also nominated them for a grant through the Americas Zone Funding Panel last year.  They were successful in their application and were awarded £3,000 is towards a pet identification program called “Tag Your Way Home.”  For more information about this amazing project, please visit www.spcawake.org
