Sahara Challenge 2012 – introducing Nicky Starns

dscf1366aaYou’ve probably guessed by now but this Sahara Challenge has given us a welcome insight into our supporters.

Firstly, they are all nuts for happily signing up for what promises to be a challenge of a life time – trekking across the Sahara desert in the blazing heat to fundraise for access to water for the first time.  Secondly, you couldn’t seriously get a nicer bunch of people.

Take Nicky for example.  She was one of the first to stick her hand up and excitedly shout ‘Me, me!’ when we asked for volunteers.  She’s active, enthusiastic and passionate about this challenge and is throwing herself whole heartedly into it.  So we thought you should know a little more about her….here’s her answers to the 10 questions we ask absolutely everyone….

Apart from your home and car, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?
A fly drive holiday to Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

What’s been the most embarrassing moment of your life?
I  went swimming at Butlins years ago . I was in a pool that had a glass viewing gallery  of people eating, drinking and watching us underwater . The trouble was I didnt realise for some time that when I jumped in I had lost my bikini top!!
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Take away any  “prejudices”.

If you were invisible for a day, what would be the first thing you’d do?
I would join Harry Potter , Ron Weasley and Hermione in their Invisibility Cloaks and help them in their battle in their battle against Voldemort. (oooo, we are sooo with you on this one – Editor)

If you had a pound to give to charity, which collection tin would you pop it in?
Cancer Research

When was the last time you cried?
A few weeks ago when my little sister went travelling for the first time: tears of joy that she was going on a trip of a lifetime and some tears of sadness that I would miss her too.

Who did you last receive a text from and what did it say?
My younger sister Cat who was at a Take That concert and Robbie Williams was singing “Let me entertain you” in the background.

If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
Lara because when I cross that desert in my mind I will become “Lara Croft” where no terrain will stop me!

What is your favourite thing about The Body Shop Foundation?
The people are amazing especially the crazy one called Adelle!

What one skill or talent do you have that no-one knows about?
I can do a fair rendition of Kermit the frogs nephew Robin singing “Half way up the stairs ” including frog like gulping effects.

If you think that the Sahara Challengers should be given the chance to hear this song on their trip, please visit Nicky’s website and give whatever you can to her Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/Nicky-Starns because we think she jolly deserves!  Nicky is putting herself through hell so that someone, somewhere will have access to clean water for the first time EVER.  Show your support folks!
