Sahara Challenge 2012: introducing Mark Davies
Here at The Body Shop Foundation we are exceptionally proud of our volunteering programme because basically, we’ve got some incredible helpers on our books. Like Mark Davies, for example.
Mark has volunteered for the Foundation for the past three years, has moved stock at sales, charmed the birds of the trees and then also went and ran the Brighton Marathon for us in 2010. He’s a incredibly likeable chappie, he’s got lots of time for charity and he’s also signed up for our Sahara Challenge.
I think you can tell that we’ve got a soft spot for Mr Davies….find out more about the lovely Mark in the 10 questions we ask absolutely everyone…..
Apart from your home and car, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?
My motorbike….then, probably the laptop.
What’s been the most embarrasing moment of your life?
Realising, at a close friend’s wedding (the bride), that you have no recollection of ‘inadvertently’ pinching her bottom during the night…..being so drunk you ran up a 250 pound bar bill, and then realising you were the comedy drunk – one of which is at every wedding. Devastated!
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
People’s unhappiness/distress.
If you were invisible for a day, what would be the first thing you’d do?
Oooo, that’s easy. Listen to what it is the boss really thinks of my work!
If you had a pound to give to charity, which collection tin would you pop it in?
NSPCC. Hurting kids is disgusting.
When was the last time you cried?
Crossing the line at the 2011 london marathon – in memory of my fantastic Nan. And then realising it was my slowest time too! Told everyone it was because of my Nan though – she’d have understood ;0)
Who did you last receive a text from and what did it say?
It was from my friend Craig – it was a long text, sorry. Paddy takes his goldfish to the vet says it’s got epilepsy. The vet says “it looks calm enough to me” Paddy says “I haven’t taken it out the bowl yet!” Sorry, that really was the last text i got folks.
If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
Mavis has to be the front runner. If that’s a bit wierd as it’s a girls name then………well, something simple and to the point – Chief lord of everything. Yep, that’s it. You see, that’s why I keep ‘Mark’.
What is your favourite thing about The Body Shop Foundation?
The team’s spirit and the amazingness of so many of their volunteers. It’s what made me start.
What one skill or talent do you have that no-one knows about?
I am a fantastic ex-lorry driver. Did it for years, loved it. Doesn’t pay enough though!
