Perkumpulan SWAMI, Indonesia


forest1Association of Indonesian Community Organizations (Perkumpulan SwAMI) is an environmental conservation group that harnesses the energy and resources of its member organizations to strengthen the natural resource management and encourage biodiversity in the Southeast Sulawesi area in Indonesia.

A major achievement for the group has been the strengthening of the forest management practices of the Teak forest farmers and the prevention of illegal logging.

The group received a grant of £5,328 through the Asia Pacific Zone Funding Panel for their Village Library Management Programme to help educate citizens more on the framework of sustainable forest management in their villages.
