Update: SolarAid
SolarAid is a young, innovative charity which tackles two of the most pressing challenges facing the world at the moment: climate change and global poverty.
We gave them £40,000 over 2 years through our Global Grant Programme for the Malawi sunnymoney programme.

At our recent AGM, we heard back some incredible stories of the impact of our funding and here’s one of them from Jacinta Jere, leading female entrepreneur from Kwithu Women’s CBO, Mzuzu, Malawi:
‘I am a widow but I could see that there are some things that I can manage to do on my own while there are other women who don’t have the resources or capability that I am lucky enough to have. Though I am single, I have that spirit of helping children. Action speaks more than words… and our end result, as the Women’s CBO, is to see these children who we are helping now, to live and to thrive.
We hope that one day, when they grow up they should remember: “there were some women who were doing something good to me, therefore I should take a good step to help another child”. We want to be a source of inspiration! Also, we want to help as many children as we can manage. That is the most powerful vision we have, through solar!
If we pay for school for three children, then we want to help twenty more! … Because if you educate a girl, it means that you have educated a nation! The woman is very important to the nation as well as to the family. We are so proud to say that we’re here because of solar’
So on behalf of Jacinta, SolarAid and all of us here at the Foundation, thank you. Your support and interest allows us to fund great programmes like this and change the lives, habitats and opportunities for many.
