Sahara Challenge: Introducing Jessie Macneil-Brown
Jessie is a well known figure around the company. As part of the global Campaigns team, she’s been instrumental in the succesful (and record breaking, although she won’t tell you that!) roll out of the global campaign. The global response has been incredible – from store staff to customers, from consultants to franchisees – its been one of those campaigns that you feel rightly proud of and alot of that has to do with the tireless working of the irrepressible Jessie.
And now she has taken the challenge to walk the Sahara Desert for charity, ensuring that communities will have access to water for the first time ever. We think she’s awesome – find out a bit more about her with the 10 questions that we ask absolutely everyone….
Apart from your home and car, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?
Tickets home to Australia
What’s been the most embarrassing moment of your life?
There are too many to limit to one and I refuse to focus on the negative!
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Stop the sex trafficking of children and young people – and guess what, we’re creating that change!!!
If you were invisible for a day, what would be the first thing you’d do?
Good question, it would involve mischief and something of a feminist nature…can I get back to you on that one
If you had a pound to give to charity, which collection tin would you pop it in?
Besides our Sahara fund? At the moment it’s the Poppy Project. They help women who have been trafficked and recently lost all their funding. They’re an amazing organisation dangerously close to closing.
When was the last time you cried?
They were happy tears, I was in Edinburgh celebrating the engagement of a close friend who I’ve known since I was 13. She’s so incredibly happy!
Who did you last receive a text from and what did it say?
Thanks for an “amazing” time last night. At Giraffe getting breakfast and BA upgraded us…life is good for two hungover Aussies. Until next time my dear xo
If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
I was named after my grandmother so I’m ok with my name thanks
What is your favourite thing about The Body Shop Foundation?
Besides the people? Donating money to projects where we know exactly who and what will benefit from our donations, not to the mention the breadth of the areas that our donations go to.
What one skill or talent do you have that no-one knows about?
Performing Arts: dancing, acting, backstage…anything to do with the stage I’ve done it. It was also my undergraduate degree!
